TELEVISION - NEW PROJECTS "BANKERS" A project from my script consultancy (www.sitcomscript.com) New writers, Alistair Martin and Chris Gray, assisted by their colleague Mark Cotterill, created a really superb and topical sitcom. In May 2011 we booked a crew, a studio, and a terrific cast, and recorded a pilot episode. We are exploring the possiblities of a co-production with a leading independent production company. Interested professionals who would like to see a dvd should contact Jean Diamond at Diamond Management, or Charles direct, as above. GAME SHOW / REALITY SHOW FORMATS. Working closely with my format partner Ramman Gautam, we are developing a number of new programme ideas. Meetings to discuss further development are in progress. One thing of which we are sure - our programmes are guaranteed to make you laugh, think and wrack your brains - and perhaps apply to be a contestant ! This is Entertainment with a giant capital E ! A NEW SCRIPTED COMEDY is currently on offer to broadcasters or Independent Production Companies interested in a co-production. This uniquely contructed comedy drama has the potential to create a new strand in UK broadcasting, and has a format with foreign sales potential. NEW TELEVISION DRAMA based on my play "Death Duty" is well underway. Hopefully it will get some space in my schedule for completion early next year. FILM - "THE DAY THEY BLEW HIS HEAD OFF" I started this a more than a year ago - it's a long process getting it right. Now the first draft is finished, and details will be found here first, as always. Much neglected, due to pressures of other projects, I have returned to my novel (title TBA) and have high hopes of completion by Christmas 2012 or .. er ... quite soon after ! "MY LABRADOR EATS POO - A COLLECTION OF CANINE VERSE" Due for publication in Spring 2012, my first collection of poetry, dedicated to "Alfie" the amazing blond labrador (now aged 3) will be announced here first. CLIFFORD KING, a wonderfully talented artist, has already completed a number of illustrations for the book, which really enhance the poems, and capture the character of Alfie perfectly. Cliff and I were at school together more than twenty years ago (!) and it's a real treat to be able to collaborate with him on this project. This will make the perfect Christmas present for 2012, so make sure that you buy plenty of copies when they are available ... There are plenty of excellent people available to assess and evaluate screenplays, but very few specialising in sit-com. Now there's one more. If you know of anyone who is writing or has written a script and doesn't know where to go for professional help, pass on the web address please! VISITING LECTURER : I am registered with agency "Protocol National" and available for Universities and FE Colleges. Lectures include : 1. "Situation Comedy", and how it is made - from first ideas through to the script development, writing, re-writing, commissioning, planning, casting, pre-production, filming, studio, post production, marketing and publicity and lobbying for a second (and subsequent) series commission. After 12 years on the staff of the BBC, I can give a first hand account of how programmes are made, and how to get a job working for a broadcaster / production company. This is principally for media students / TV production courses, but would also be of interest to U3A groups, and others. (Check to see if Easy Speak Lecture Agency is a more suitable route to booking me. Details above.) 2. "Writing a Script" - this is particularly useful for universities and colleges where a television production course, or similar, is run by superb, technically wizard lecturers who are not writers! Allow me take over the writing element lecture on your behalf. Evaluating writers and their work is not everyone's métier, and I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to the training of your creative students. I use recent films / TV programmes on dvd to demonstrate my points, and draw on my MA in script writing from the UEA and my work as a script consultant. |
